Nearly every large coin shop has gold coins for sale, both bullion types like the Krugerrand, Maple leaf, and American Eagle, and collectible types. The one ounce Krugerrand sells at about 3-5% above spot, and the Maple Leaf / American eagle sell at 5-8% over spot. The coin shops that sell them also buy them at about 5-10% below spot. Smaller coins have larger mark-ups.

The point is that each of the bullion investment type (bars, coins, bullion stocks) have specific advantages and disadvantages.
